NWS Confirms Tornado Touchdown Today in Aiken, SC

The National Weather Service has just confirmed that a tornado touched down near Langley early Monday morning, causing significant damage and widespread disruption.

The tornado, which struck around 3:30 a.m., has been classified as a high-end EF1, based on preliminary assessments by an NWS storm survey team.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office reported several road closures due to storm damage, including:

  • Augusta Road at Dunbar Street (reopened at 5:15 p.m.)

  • New Holland Road

  • Farmfield Road

In Aiken, officers also closed Price Avenue between Whiskey Road and Two Notch Road due to flooding.

At least 42 customers in Langley were without power as of 4:40 p.m., according to Dominion Energy.

Officials also reported multiple downed trees across the county. Additional updates are expected after the NWS team completes its full survey later this evening.
